NE24 News – Organizer Note 6/24/26 – Hot, Hot, Hot Pits!!

The 10th Annual NE24 is just over 3 weeks away and we are making final preparations behind the scenes.

Big News regarding this year’s Pit Area... it will be Hot, Hot, Hot!!

New for this year, the NE24 Pit Area will be a Hot Pit format, meaning it will be part of the race track!
Teams will see racers each lap as they come through the Pit Area at speed. This will require the utmost
caution from all racers, teams and crew members alike.

Here’s How it will work:

    -     At the end of the lap, the race course will flow through Timing/Scoring near the same place as in
the past (Pit-In), then make a large U-shape through that field with designated Pit stalls located
along both sides. The course will then loop back through the Start Area to the opposite side of
Timing/Scoring area and go through a second scanner (Pit-Out) before continuing back to the main
            course to begin another lap.
    -     The race course will be over 50’ wide in this area, and those who are NOT pitting should stay in the
center of the track, while those who are pitting should raise their hand and point the direction they
will pull off prior to making the move. This will allow any rider who is directly behind them to
check-up and move to the opposite side if needed to avoid any risk of a collision.
    -     There will be no on track Speed limit, and consequently we highly recommend being very cautious
in this area as a racer and pit crew alike.
    -     Chicanes will be utilized to slow race traffic at certain locations inside the Pit Area.
    -     Track Crosswalks - There may be crosswalks designated in these chicaned areas where crew
members will be asked to quickly and cautiously cross the track. This is to mitigate the inherent
risk of crossing a Hot race course and to do it in the safest manner possible, where the bikes are
going the slowest speeds. Crossing the track at other areas will be highly discouraged.
    -     Track Watering to limit dust will likely be required, so racers may experience continuously
changing track conditions in this area. Be aware and ride accordingly.

Pit Size and What & Who’s Permitted Inside:
    -     Size - The Pit Stall for each team will be increased to approximately 20’ X 60’ in a perpendicular
relation to the track, meaning each team will have 20’ of tent space along the track, or the front of
the Pit Stall. Duos and IronRiders will be allotted 12’ X 60’ Pit Stalls.
    -     What - As in the past, campers & sleeping tents will not be permitted in the Pit Area. Also, no pets,
no bicycles nor pit vehicles of any type. And of course, no drinking nor smoking in this area.

    -     Who – Only Race Crews are intended to be in this area, which we realize is comprised of a mix of
friends & families. Consequently, we ask that the Pit Area remain a serious racing area. No
Partying here, keep it in the Camping Area.
    -     Racer Parents – We will permit children to be in this new, very large Pit Area, but we ask for your
help in limiting track crossings. Also, it is Highly Recommended that small children be kept back
away from the race track at all times and preferably be kept in your respective Camping Area.
    -     Vehicles such as pickup’s and vans, along with trailers will be permitted in the assigned Pit Stall
Area. Again, no campers or RV’s.
    -     Fuel storage, Generators & Power Washers will NOT be permitted within 25’ of the race course.
    -     All vehicles/trailers which are located inside the Pit Area / Race Course will be required to remain
until the end of the race. Don’t forget your required Pit Stall fire extinguisher and your Lights!

Designated Pit Zones:
    -     Each race class will have a designated Pit Stall Zone to choose from; first come, first choice. In
other words, we designate the Zone, you choose the specific Pit Stall.
    -     There will be an assigned Zone for each Race Class. This means racers/teams will be pitting either
next-to or across from other teams/competitors in the same class to increase the excitement.
    -     IronRiders – although the rules allow it, we ask that you use your own Pit Area in the proper
Designated Zone if at all possible and not pit with another team.

We are fully aware that these changes will dramatically alter the Pit Strategy from years past. These
changes are made to increase the excitement and overall fun of the race. We ask that all participants,
crews, families and friends, please take all safety precautions and remain diligent throughout this 24-
hour race.

Remember, each Teams’ Pit Board is required to be hung in their respective Pit Stall. Also, Pit Decoration
and Lighting is highly encouraged, and who knows... there may be a cool prize for the coolest Pit Stall!
Good Luck, Spread the News on the Hot Pits and we’ll see you soon!
